Generators

Generators refer to a combination of an engine and the alternator unit that produces electricity when turned by the engine.

 

The engine may be powered by gasoline, diesel, natural gas, or propane, and will typically be rated in horse power.

 

The alternator is typically rated in kilowatts (kW), voltage (V), Herz (Hz), and whether it produces single-phase power, three-phase power, or both depending on how it is wired.
